Swiss pianist and composer living in Fribourg, Switzerland.

He is activ with his longtime working trio, with bassist André Pousaz and drummer Michael Stulz, and is co-leading the chamber-jazz quartet jøøn with bassist Patrice Moret, cellist Beatriz Raymundo and trumpet player Matthieu Michel. 

Stefan Aeby's music blends acoustic chamber music sensibilities with jazz improvisation, subtle electronics and melancholic melodies. Critics describe his work as dreamful and rich in true sonic treasures, avoiding technical bragging in favor of emotional depth paired with clear, unique identities in his compositions. He is known for his sensitive touch, creative sounds, rich harmonies and a dynamic interplay. 

As a composer he writes music for his trio, for jøøn, for ensemble diachronie, theatre pieces and musical lectures, silent movies, exhibitions and wind ensembles.
